Happy New Year everyone! I was thinking about my 2011 goals the other day and I considered keeping them in the notebook I penned them in, things like this always seem quite private really. Then, I got thinking that I’ll forget that I ever wrote them if I leave them in the book, and by March I’ll have achieved nothing off my list. So I settled on the idea of putting them on the internet, where I can’t escape them this year.

I really wasn’t a fan of 2010, to be honest it wasn’t the best year for me. Health woes, stress and bad planning meant that the year was a bit of a non-starter and this New Year more than ever I’m looking forward to a fresh start! Hence the new blog design and a new Tumblr blog for inspiration and more general ramblings.

Here goes with my 2011 goals:

1. Do more with less. Be more efficient, thrifty, and productive.
2. Buy less on impulse, more with thought.
3. Bake a different and new cake every two weeks.
4. Travel more, do more with the time off I have.
5. Stay calm, think logically and try not to get overwhelmed.
6. Moan less and try not to complain so much.
7. Try to understand what makes me happy.
8. Run outside more, I can run outside of the gym, I can, I can, I can!
9. Don’t take people around me for granted – appreciate everyone.
10. Be much much better with money. I’ve never saved in my life and this is the year to sort myself out.

I hope 2011 is a good year for everyone. x

My recent absence has not been without good reason, after my last post it was all systems go to move to into London. The move was a little bit epic and has eaten up stacks of time. It was pretty significant, I made the leap from Greater South London to Highbury and Islington, well within North London. I now have a London post code and everything – it’s all terribly exciting. I’ve waited almost two long and patient years to to have a London post code to call my own. I’ve spent the last few weeks making it a home and getting used to my new way of life.

My new flat is situated within a beautiful victorian mansion and Miles and I now occupy the ground floor. It’s filled with delicious features like sash windows, bleached wood shutter boards, wood paneling and lots more. Not to mention some of the more luxurious features like the en suite bathroom, wonderful appliances and utility room! I’m in love with the flat already!

It’s all been very nice to move away, be closer to my work and to be in such a nice area with so much going on. We have a huge park (Highbury Fields) just around the corner, with stacks of cute independent shops, deli’s, restaurants and pubs -all the things you need. Then we are just 10 mins from Islington’s Upper Street, which is filled with delights like Toast, Oliver Bonas, Bora, Noa Noa and lots more. I will keep you posted with lots more pictures as I take them, here are just a few pinky shots taken on our first weekend here.

So I have taken a little break from the blog, I am not going to go on about how busy and preoccupied I have been as that is kind of old news now. I guess I am just one of those people if don’t have anything to say I won’t, and lately I haven’t. However I am really excited about the future, I am moving this weekend and have so much to share once everything is in place. I honestly can’t wait it is really soul destroying having nothing inspiring to write about. However personal life aside I have been doing some exciting things for work. The most relevant being I got to interview the amazing designer Clare Nicolson for the welovelocal blog. Her, and her brilliant Glasgow Craft Mafia did a guest post – and did an amazingly interesting job. Have a little look at the interview, it is all based around community and crafty goodness.

So this is a promise I will be back very soon with a much more exciting array of posts …… I promise Ljbigapple!
