New Cakes and New Blog

It’s been a quiet bank holiday Monday here in the new flat, I’ve been feeling a little poorly and Miles has been attempting to plough on with work. However, I have managed to get a little baking done and rope Miles into re-designing my blog – what do you think? The cupcakes I made are peach and mascarpone and are hands down the yummiest things around. I first tried them at my daily hunt Nusa Kitchen, London and found the recipe online at Waitrose.

They are super simple to make and well worth every calorie! I had no piping bag to ice them with so they are a little rough round the edges. However, don’t be fooled, perfectly piped icing won’t add to their flavour, they’re amazing through and through, even with messing icing. So between baking cakes, riding my new bike and finally getting a new blog I’m a happy girl this bank holiday – thanks Miles! Love to know what you think of the re-design?

Easter Bunnies

Happy Easter everyone! I hope you all have a great day, whatever you’re up to. Relax, take it easy and eat a lot! These are my chocolate bunnies ready to be delivered to my family. I’ve been away in Oxford so I’m off to see my the loved ones today, plus it’s my sister’s Birthday. Have an egg-tra special day!

Just a quick thanks to Miles for all the photo’s lately,  my camera is still poorly.

Birthday Tea Party Fun

These are the photos from my Birthday tea party, they are a little late coming but I haven’t been able to get my act together the sort them out or sit down and write a blog post. It was a lovely little gathering of my girl friends and honorary girl, Miles (of course). We ate cakes and crustless sandwiches washed down with wine and Champagne (it was at night). The night was topped off with some dancing at the very cool club Matter

Thanks to everyone who came, I had a great night! Any excuse to get all my china tea cups and pretty things out again and play hostess. It’s currently snowing here in London, it’s been snowing all day and I have just returned from a snow blizzard on the motor way – which was pretty hairy! it was my nephews Birthday so we had a little party in my home town of Whitstable. Miles and I start our ballroom dancing lessons soon at the Pineapple Studios in Covent Garden, I seriously can’t wait to dance again. I’m not sure we’re going to have the best moves, but at least we’ll be moving!

This shot is my fave, it shows off my lovely cups from Laura Ashley, we have a small kitchen and no dresser so my china has to be packed away when it’s not being used. I can’t wait for the day I can give it a proper home. I have been passing my time listening to Passion Pit, Little Joy, She and Him and Little Boots (thanks Charlie for the tips).

Birthday Treats

It was my Birthday yesterday and as always I was spoiled with lovely Birthday treats. I am so blessed to have such lovely friends, family and Boyfriend  -who all treated me to some amazing presents and a wicked day! Miles got me a lovely Chanel brooch that is considered vintage and from Provence. I think it is dreamy and really special as Miles chose it for me. I love very few designers like I love Chanel and Marc Jacbos. I also got a whole host of other equally amazing and thoughtful presents that I will blog about shortly, however tonight I have limited pictures of all my loot so I can only share my new brooch. I hope everyone is having a lovely week…. x

My Floral Friend

I had to share this as I just love this rabbit that Miles got me for Christmas not only is it incredibly cute but it reminds me of all things fresh and spring like. Fresh is a good feeling after all the Christmas and New Year festivities. I haven’t really made any resolutions this year – just the promise to do everything better, be better and be happy! Phew just a small ask. I’m currently dreaming of warm weather, morning bird song and flowers – all of which we have none at the moment. Back to work in a few days and my 24 birthday in less than 2 weeks! I have just watched Priceless, the Audrey Tautou flim for the second time – I love it!

Anyway Gossip Girl season finale soon, really can’t wait ….. I’ve heard its going to break your heart (sorry non Gossip Girl fans). Until then I’m off to do some more sleeping, hopefully going to catch the Reader (new Kate Winslet film) tomorrow.

Happy New Year H

2009, I can’t quite believe you have come around so soon?! Where did this year go? 2008 you were good but I’m really ready to move on to better, brighter times. So good bye 2008, and welcome 2009! My arms are open ready to embrace the new year ahead.

I wish you all a Happy New Year, all he health, luck and happiness for 2009! x x

P.s. thanks to my sister for this lovely new white letter H, I don’t know if anyone remembers last years?! and to Samantha from Plum Pudding for making this beautiful bag!

Happy Belated Halloween

Happy belated Halloween all…. I should have written this post two days a go but time wasn’t on my side. Here is a little picture of Miles’ pumpkin carving skills (it was more scary lit up but the smell of cooking/burning pumpkin wasn’t really my thing).

Hope everyone had fun?!

New Member of the family

Today I went to visit the latest addition to my family, Ida Blue. She is an 8 week old Spring Spaniel puppy and she sure has got some energy! She has been with my mum and dad for almost a week now and she is already learning the ropes – and everyone around her is smitten. I had to post up a picture of her with the pink teething blankie I got her – she is such a girl!

She is the cutest thing and is keeping everyone on their toes. It was really sad to loose our old faithful dog it, but it’s nice to see Ida Blue cheering everyone up again with her very funny ways. The photos were taken lovingly by Miles who spent the whole day shooting her, like she were a local celebrity – I think she enjoyed really. I am just sad I now live so far away from my parents – I won’t get to spend much time with her, and every day she is getting bigger.

Happy Birthday to a Boy and a Doll

Ok, so it’s fair to say I have been the worst blogger of late. Not only have I neglected to post on here (thanks for the kind words Little Lj) but also I forgot to even give Little Doll Face’s 1 year Birthday a mention. Horrible, horrible blogger! Anyway I’m back now and ready to get back on it. By the way Little Doll Faces official Birthday was the 5th July – so I guess I’m 10 days late!

Anyway it was also someone else’s Birthday the other day too (Miles) and this is where these photo are taken from. The lovely cakes are from Lola’s Kitchen and man were they tasty. Carrot, vanilla, banana and chocolate were the flavours that they came in and the carrot was super yum! Miles and I spent the day out and about in London – it was really nice to have London to ourselves on a quiet weekday. So, happy birthday Miles and happy birthday Little Doll Face. Plus a really big thank you to anyone who has read or inspired my blog over the past year – it’s been so much fun having somewhere to share all the pretty things in life. x

My Side

Another busy week and I finally came to the conclusion that I needed to dig out some of my old things that I’ve had stored away since my move -at the risk of sounding a bit dramatic,  it was a bid to re-connect with the old creativity. So, all week I have been re-reding my crafting books, dug out my old handmade notice board adorned it with my fave paper trinkets and treated Miles and I to new bedside lamps to match the Cath Kidston throw – the room needed some colour!

I have also been re-united with my old bed, from my last flat and think all the good nights sleep I’m getting is definitely giving me more energy. This is my precious Love pillow cases, by Lush Designs - they were a special present from Miles for the flat. I love all the Lush Designs things – especially the lamp shades! My side says ‘LO’ and Miles’ reads ‘VE’.

This is everything together – on my side, having all my favourite things  so close has really cheered me up,  I can’t wait to go home at the weekend collect all my crafty bits and go mad. I would like to note that the fox sticker on my notice board is a new Luella sticker I got yesterday, along with some beautiful badges. I love Luella and the shop is a haven of loveliness – if you haven’t seen her website check it out it seriously rocks!
